Cellport Systems - Licensing

Although Cellport has been successful in licensing its patents and know-how, the company was unable to capitalize on product development and manufacturing. As a result, Cellport eliminated manufacturing operations and concentrated on prototype development, licensing its patent portfolios, and developing additional technology platforms. Licensees for technology-transfer and patent rights include Motorola Solutions, Apple, BMW, Harman International, Samsung, Nokia, LG, Continental AG, Peiker Acustic, Cullmann, HTC, Omron and Toyota Motor Sales.

Chaebol - History

In 2014, the largest chaebol, Samsung, composed about 17% of the South Korean economy and held roughly US$17 billion in cash. However, recent financial statements of these chaebols actually show that chaebols are slowly losing power over either international competition or internal disruptions from newly emerging startups. Net profit/income of South Korea's top conglomerates has decreased from 2012 to 2015. Not only did their profits stop increasing, but certain chaebols such as LG, have been making losses and losing talent.

Beam-powered propulsion - Microwave thermal rocket

In 2002, Kevin L.G. Parkin proposed a similar system using microwaves. In May 2012, the DARPA/NASA Millimeter-wave Thermal Launch System (MTLS) Project began the first steps toward implementing this idea. The MTLS Project was the first to demonstrate a millimeter-wave absorbent refractory heat exchanger, subsequently integrating it into the propulsion system of a small rocket to produce the first millimeter-wave thermal rocket. Simultaneously, it developed the first high power cooperative target millimeter-wave beam director and used it to attempt the first millimeter-wave thermal rocket launch. Several launches were attempted but problems with the beam director could not be resolved before funding ran out in March 2014.

MLG Major Championship: Columbus - Finals

77% of Pick'Em predictions and the analyst desk of Duncan "Thorin" Shields, Richard Lewis, and Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson had Na'Vi winning it over LG, as Na'Vi had more experience and had been in the grand finals of a major tournament before. Now with Fnatic out of the tournament, everything seemed ideal for Na'Vi. Meanwhile, LG had never made it past the quarterfinals prior to the tournament and two of its players, fnx and TACO, had never been to a CSGO major, although fnx won the biggest CS 1.6 tournament, Electronic Sports World Cup 2006, at the time with mibr (Made in Brazil) as he and his team defeated Fnatic. Nonetheless, Na'Vi appeared to be dominant throughout the major and never dropped a map while LG had long games against VP and Liquid. LG was already the first non-European team to make a major finals and aimed to be the first non-European team to win a major title. Na'Vi came close at the previous major and tried again to get its first title.

OMA DRM is a digital rights management (DRM) system invented by the Open Mobile Alliance, whose members represent mobile phone manufacturers (e.g. Nokia, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sony-Ericsson, BenQ-Siemens), mobile system manufacturers (e.g. Ericsson, Siemens, Openwave), mobile phone network operators (e.g. Vodafone, O2, Cingular, Deutsche Telekom, Orange), and information technology companies (e.g. Microsoft, IBM, Sun). DRM provides a way for content creators to set enforced limits on the use and duplication of their content by customers. The system is implemented on many recent phones. To date, two versions of OMA DRM have been released: OMA DRM 1.0 and OMA DRM 2.0.

Dell Rapids, South Dakota - History

Dell Rapids was originally named Dell City, but it was changed to its current name because of the rapids of the Big Sioux River. A fire broke out on the main street and burned most of it, so it was rebuilt out of Sioux Quartzite, a common rock found in the area. The Chicago, Milwaukee, and Saint Paul Railroad built a railroad into the area, reaching Dell Rapids from Egan in 1881. Two large Sioux Quartzite quarries owned by LG. Everest are operated via this rail line, which is now operated by LG’s subsidiary, the D&I Railroad. The community celebrates its heritage with the annual “Quarry Days”, which takes place in July, and in June, the city hosts “Cootie Days”, where rides and games are set up and available in the city’s park.

ESL One Cologne 2015 - Team EnVyUs vs. Luminosity Gaming

The two teams traded two rounds each heading into the fifth round. fer took down kioShiMa early but kennyS was able to trade out Lucas "steel" Lopes. FalleN stepped down from the Drop area on the map and took down Vincent "Happy" Cervoni, but apEX flanked across the map and took down fer. NBK- won a duel against boltz but coldzera was able to trade him out shortly after. FalleN planted the bomb after taking down apEX and kennyS was forced to back away as he was on the other side of the map with no defuse kit, which reduces the time to defuse the bomb from 10 to 5 seconds. LG took a 4-2 lead. The game was close until the end, as each team had 8 rounds on its terrorist side and 7 rounds on its counter-terrorist side. EnVyUs took the first overtime round to go up 16-15. In the next round, steel was taken down by NBK- but boltz was there to trade. apEX and boltz found kills onto coldzera and kioShiMa, respectively, on nearly the same time, but apEX gave the French team the man advantage as he caught boltz reloading his gun. apEX took down fer while FalleN took down Happy. FalleN would then have one of the most memorable plays in major history, as he took a random unscoped shot through smoke and took down apEX through a door, leaving both AWPers of the teams in a 1 vs 1 situation. FalleN was not so lucky against kennyS as he pulled out his pistol just as kennyS peeked to take a shot. EnVyUs would close out the map and move on to the playoffs while LG moved on to the second group stage on the winner's side. FalleN lead all players with 33 kills and fer had 28 kills, but apEX's 31 kills and Happy's 30 kills were able to give EnVyUs the edge over LG.
